JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

A leaky roof led to a vandalism investigation at a Jonesboro hotel.

According to an incident report with the Jonesboro Police Department, the owner of the Fairbridge Inn discovered a mess in the ballroom over the weekend.

The owner told police a severe leak damaged the ceiling and floor of the hotel's ballroom.

The owner said while searching for the cause, workers discovered several long cuts to the rubber roof. The incident report stated the cuts “were very clean and curved” as if they were done on purpose.

A Jonesboro police officer found that the majority of the ceiling tiles were missing or significantly damaged and the floor was flooded.

The officer also reported that air vents and electrical wiring was possibly compromised because of the water damage.

No suspects have been named in the case.
