JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Thousands of dollars were collected in a series of recent land auctions in northeast Arkansas.
According to a news release Monday from the Arkansas Commissioner of State Lands Office, a Craighead County auction on tax-delinquent properties raised a total of $350,049.70 for the county and state government.
The auction drew 38 bidders and 33 properties were sold.
The office conducts one tax-delinquent land sale per county each year to dispose of land on which the taxes have been past due over two years, the release stated.
Information on other counties include the following:
- Mississippi County, 28 parcels for a total of $54,611.80
- Crittenden County, 23 parcels for a total of $81,991.52
- Poinsett County, seven parcels for $16,112.44.
Over $400,000 were collected for counties in east Arkansas, the land commissioner's Facebook page stated.
