LITTLE ROCK, AR - A new chairman for the Democratic Party of Arkansas.

Jason Willett of Jonesboro defeated two-term incumbent Ron Oliver for the post over the weekend.

Willett spoke to the party after his victory, saying that they have to rebuild and reorganize to be competitive in next year's governor's and lieutenant governor's races.

Willet has been district director for First District Congressman Marion Berry for the last six years, and works out of Berry's Jonesboro office.

Oliver also spoke, saying he was the first chairman in 34 years under which the party has not suffered a net loss of legislative seats.
