STEELE, MO (KAIT) - A Missouri man was arrested for arson following an investigation in Steele.
Chief Billy Joe Stanfield said officers and firefighters responded to a house fire on South Walnut Street on May 16. The fire was quickly put out by crews.
Stanfield said the fire appeared to be deliberately set and his department called in the Missouri State Fire Marshal to investigate.
During the investigation officers picked up a 46-year-old man from Steele for questioning. Stanfield said the man admitted to officers that he did set the home on fire deliberately.
The suspect was charged with second degree arson and was taken to the Pemiscot County Jail.
The name of the man has not been released pending the filing of formal charges.
