Jonesboro officers participate in Special Olympics torch run

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

The Jonesboro Police Department teamed up with Special Olympics for the law enforcement torch run Tuesday.

Jonesboro police officers ran through various locations in the city and met with the Special Olympics group on Red Wolf Boulevard and Highland Drive.

They also visited Centennial Bank for a pep rally.

“You realize there's more to being an officer than just coming to work,” JPD Officer Brian Arnold said. “Protect and serve takes on a whole new meaning. We're actually serving those guys.”

The group will meet at the state capitol in Little Rock Wednesday where the torch will be overnight.

On Friday, they'll leave Little Rock and head out to Searcy for the opening ceremonies at Harding University.
