WALNUT RIDGE, AR (KAIT) - One of Walnut Ridge's lights-out pitchers will be taking his talents right down the road to help the Williams Baptist College baseball team next season.
Layne Ditto signed on Wednesday to play baseball for the Eagles. Ditto will help enhance the already solid pitching staff that Coach Frank Lee has assembled over the past few season at WBC.
This season, Ditto posted a 1.93 ERA with 117 strikeouts and just 16 walks for Walnut Ridge. He also proved to be an innings-eater for the Bobcats as he racked up over 70 innings pitched in 36 games played this year.
Williams Baptist College is just seven miles away from where Ditto played his high school baseball at Walnut Ridge High School. "It's close to home, not a very far travel and I've got a lot of friends that go out there and I think it'll be fun," said Ditto.
The Eagles made it to the postseason for the first time in 12 seasons in 2015, while the Bobcats fell short in their quest for a state title, dropping a heart breaker to Junction City in which Ditto only gave up three hits and one run.
