Bay Elementary receives award from D.A.R.E program

BAY, AR (KAIT) - A group of Bay Elementary students were recognized for being "the best of the best."

Ms. Johnson's 5th grade class at Bay received a plaque from Deputy Jamey Carter with the Craighead County Sheriff's Department on Thursday.

This group of kids ranked highest of any Drug Abuse Resistance Education group in all of the Craighead County schools.

Deputy Carter said he is proud of the students and hopes what they learned from the D.A.R.E program will stay with them in the future.

"Making good choices. That's what we harp on, we preach that every week, make good choices," Carter said. "If you can make a good choice in a small decision the same principal goes to large decisions like drugs and alcohol and just say no."

There are 48 5th grade students in the D.A.R.E program at Bay.
