Lehigh University ‘Rookie of the Year’ to help Future ‘Canes Basketball Academy

2014 Jonesboro High School graduate and point guard Kahron Ross returns home for summer break and a chance to share his knowledge of the game at the JHS summer basketball camps.

Ross was named Rookie of the Year at Lehigh University.

"Last year, we played Villanova first and I didn't think it could get any better than that," said Ross with a smile. "This year, I'm playing Syracuse in Madison Square Garden where MJ and LeBron played. It's just a humbling experience. I am so thankful for it."

Ross is one of several instructors at the Future 'Canes Basketball Academy.

There are two camps scheduled for June 15-17.

"Introduction to Basketball" is for boys and girls entering K-3rd grades. It runs from 1:30-4:30 p.m. and costs $40 per camper.

"Skill Development with Emphasis on Shooting" is open to boys and girls entering grades 4-9 in Fall 2015. It runs from 8 a.m. until noon and costs $50 per camper.

"These camps I think are a good starting place for a lot of kids," said Wes Swift, JHS head basketball coach.

Swift joins Troy Campbell, Bryan Jenkins and Chuck Farley in coaching the camps.
