JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

Two murder suspects charged in the death of Nelson McCullough appeared in court Monday, according to Prosecuting Attorney Scott Ellington.

Tanisha Mitchell, 21, of Jonesboro and Ladarius Lee, 18, of Jonesboro were formally arraigned Monday.

Their pretrial appearance will be September 1.

A jury trial will follow on September 14.

In May. they were ordered to remain in jail because prosecutors felt the pair would be safer there.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Mitchell was a former girlfriend of McCollough.

The affidavit stated that the owner of a silver Dodge Charger allowed Mitchell to borrow her vehicle for a short period of time on the night of the murder.

The affidavit also stated that McCollough was shot in the head and in the chest.

His body was found in the doorway to the home at 1312 West Monroe.

Mitchell turned herself into police on a capital murder warrant.

Ellington said he charged both with first-degree murder, which is punishable by 10 to 40 years in prison.
