JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A new hotel is coming to Highway 49 in Jonesboro and those who live in the neighborhood behind the area are not as excited about the new building as some others are in the community.

A news release from Haag Brown Commercial stated 2.28 acres of land across from NEA Baptist Hospital has been purchased to construct a Courtyard by Marriott Hotel.

Haag Brown Commercial represented the seller, Highway 49 Properties, LLC, and buyer, David Hunt of Hunt Properties and Hunt-Williams Development, LLC, according to the release.

The structure will be 5 stories and have 106 rooms.

Residents say they believe the building will lower the property value and invade their privacy. One woman who lives right behind the land says they planned on buying a taller fence but now realize they can't purchase a 5-story fence.

Others who visit the area are excited to see the community develop and grow. A manager with ACE Hardware said this new construction will benefit them and the community.

"Well obviously something of this size is going to bring several jobs to the community and they are going to need some supplies and things to help them get that job completed," Darrell Austin said. "So hopefully we can be there to help them."

Construction is expected to begin in the fall and could be open by summer 2016.
