BLYTHEVILLE, AR - Blytheville Mayor Barry Harrison and other leaders with the Grassroots Delta Caucus are launching a bi-partisan initiative to urge Congress to take greater action in addressing the serious economic needs of the Mississippi Delta region.

Harrison and other members of the Caucus will hold a meeting and news conference at the Blytheville-Gosnell Area Chamber of Commerce on February 18 to inform people about the initiative.

The Delta Caucus' initiative is in its early stages, but the coalition has already received strong support from U.S. Senator Blanche Lincoln, Congressman Marion Berry, Southeast Missouri Congresswoman Jo Ann Emerson, Governor Mike Huckabee, Mississippi Senator Thad Cochran and other members of Congress.
