JONESBORO-- Firefighters put out a fire at the C.W. Post Cereal-Kraft Foods plant in Jonesboro Monday evening.  They were called to the fire just after 5:00 p.m.

Firefighters say the blaze started in one of the ovens used to make cereal. The fire spread from the cereal line to another oven.  Employees tried to put it out, but had no luck. They called the fire department when flames went through a vent leading to the roof.  Witnesses said at one point flames shot into the air as smoke billowed from the roof of the building.  Firefighters said the blaze was confined to a single boiler room on the third floor of the structure.

Employees were evacuated, but no one was hurt. Firefigthers say the damage to the plant is estimated at $150,000.
