WALNUT RIDGE, AR - For the second time in less than a week, the K8 newsroom has been flooded with calls by viewers reporting a possible earthquake or seismic activity.

Shortly after 3 p.m., viewers in the Walnut Ridge area began calling, reporting a loud blast or explosion and windows rattling.  More calls began coming in from Walnut Ridge, Pocahontas, Lafe, Beech Grove and Jonesboro reporting similar circumstances.

Gary Patterson with the Earthquake Research Center at the University of Memphis said "it was not an earthquake."  Patterson theorized that it may have been "an atmospheric shockwave, or sonic boom."
