POCAHONTAS, AR (KAIT) -

Pocahontas police arrested a man and his pregnant girlfriend in connection to a robbery at a local pizza joint.

According to police, a manager at the Pizza Hut in Pocahontas was robbed in late June.

The suspect stole cash from the manager as she left the restaurant.

The manager, identified as 19-year-old Cheyanne Manning of Pocahontas said she was walking out of the back door when a person “she had never saw before” demanded she give him the money.

The man got the cash and took off running.

During the course of the investigation, police identified 24-year-old Colton Broadwater of Imboden as a possible suspect.

According to a case summary obtained by Region 8 News, several witnesses told officers that Broadwater asked several employees for help in robbing the store.

One employee told officers Broadwater offered her money if she helped him with the crime.

Following the robbery, another store employee overheard Broadwater saying “sarcastically ‘I don’t know who robbed Pizza Hut’ and laughing about it.”

According to the case summary, Manning at first denied knowing Broadwater’s involvement in the robbery but later admitted that she recognized him during the robbery.

She told police she was not involved in the robbery other than “not telling the police the truth about who was responsible.”

While talking with officers, Manning was with another woman.

That woman told police Broadwater contacted her wanting a ride the night of the robbery.

During the car ride, she claimed Broadwater admitted to the robbery.

The woman told police Broadwater showed her the money and “told her not to tell or he would say she was involved.”

That woman was not arrested.

Police did arrest and charge Manning with hindering apprehension or prosecution. Her bond was set at $2,500.

Broadwater is charged with robbery and theft of property. His bond was set at $25,000. He’s also in jail on a parole hold.
