JONESBORO--Jonesboro's bulky waste is another step closer to landing in the Craighead County landfill. Wednesday afternoon, the county's solid waste authority board approved a proposal from the city of Jonesboro to take in the city's class 4, bulky waste.

Chairman of the finance committee, RickWyatt, says that proposal calls for Jonesboro to put up $5,000,000 to build the necessary infrastructure. The city would pay $1,000,000 up front and $400,000 each of the next ten years.  Wyatt says the site would be usuable for 300 years, in contrast to possible site west of Strawfloor road that would have a 15 year life.

The proposal must now go back to the city finance committee and ultimately must be approved by the Jonesboro City Council.
