Deputies arrest naked, bleeding man in Batesville

BATESVILLE, AR (KAIT) -

A Region 8 man is in jail after deputies found him naked, bleeding and possibly high on acid.

According to an incident report with the Independence County Sheriff’s Office, officers were called out to a home on Moody Street in Batesville Monday after a man jumped through a window.

Police received a second call saying the man was outside, naked and bleeding.

Deputies found that man, later identified as 19-year-old Lucas Kennedy, sitting on the ground naked, mumbling to himself and bleeding.

Deputies said they tried to subdue him and calm him down, but a struggle began.

According to the report, deputies shined the red laser from a stun gun to warn him to calm down, but he began mumbling again apparently saying “Gotta catch the red dot. Red dot. Red Dot. Blue light, green light, blue light.”

Deputies had to stun him around 5 times.

During one round of the stuns, deputies said he broke the leads on the stun gun.

Deputies said Kennedy ran from them and toward a patrol car.

As they continued their attempt to subdue and arrest him, deputies said they had to use a baton and physical force.

Deputies took him to a hospital for treatment.

A witness at the scene told deputies Kennedy asked another man if he could come after work “to take a ‘hit’ of acid.”

That man denied any knowledge of illegal activity or even knowing Kennedy.

Kennedy faces a long list of charges including public intoxication, criminal mischief, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and assault.
