BLACK OAK, AR (KAIT) -

Two people were killed after an early-morning, head-on crash near Black Oak.

Arkansas State Police confirmed the fatal crash happened on Arkansas Highway 18 at Arkansas Highway 135 just before 3 a.m. Thursday. A tractor trailer and a pick up truck were involved.

According to a crash report from ASP, Monette residents Tanner Platz, 19, and Zachary Wells, 20, were killed in the crash.

The crash report states Wells was driving a GMC truck east on Highway 18 and Chad Marshall of Jonesboro was driving the tractor trailer west on the same highway.

Marshall, according to police, crossed over into the eastbound lane and struck the truck head on.

When crews arrived on scene the truck was reportedly in flames.

Wells and Platz were pronounced dead at the scene.

Marshall was taken to a Jonesboro hospital in unknown condition.
