Police investigating shooting on N. 5th Street

PARAGOULD, AR (KAIT) -

The Paragould Police Department is investigating a deadly shooting at a home on the corner of North 5th Street and West Morgan Street.

Police tell Region 8 News that one person was shot shortly after 2:00 Thursday afternoon. Police are currently seeking a suspect.

Detectives spent the afternoon processing the house and collecting evidence.

Meanwhile, officers canvassed the neighborhood searching for witnesses and a possible suspect.

Lt. Scott Snyder told Region 8 News that they did conduct interviews with a few people at the Paragould Police Department in relation to the shooting.

Though many neighbors tell Region 8 News they didn't hear anything, one woman was outside when she heard the gunshots.

"I was minding my own business, just watching a vehicle and I heard something shot twice but I don't know what it was," Pamela Simpson told Region 8 News. "I'm just hoping this all quits before it's too late."

Simpson lives on 5th Street just two homes down from where the shooting happened.

Police were not able to release much information Thursday afternoon, including how many people might have been inside the home when the person was shot.
