Brandi Faries-Beadles is a mother of six children. But, her toughest battle isn't raising kids. It's fighting breast cancer.
Beadles found a lump in her breast during her last pregnancy. She dismissed it thinking it was a plugged milk duct.
"It really hit her hard," said Mike Wellman. "It stared getting to her and eating the flesh. That's when she realized that we need to get this thing checked and that's when she found out it was cancer."
Wellman is 1 of 3 performers hosting a benefit for Beadles on Saturday, July 25 at 7 p.m. inside the Marmaduke Community Center.
Other performers in the gospel sing include Hearts Desire and Gary Sloan, who traveled with the Gaither Family.
"Her husband is the only one who's working. It's really been hard on them because they have rent, utility bills. The vehicle they're driving is pretty much on its last leg and then they have the drive back and forth to Jonesboro."
Beadles underwent a mastectomy this week.
She will follow it up with seven weeks of daily radiation and then chemotherapy pills for the rest of her life.
All donations from the benefit singing will go toward medical bills and the expenses. For more information, call 870-565-6108.
