JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

A Jonesboro man found himself in jail Friday afternoon after being pulled over while riding a bicycle.

Johnny Ray Hampton, 57, was riding a bike on Vine Street around 3:20 p.m. when he didn’t stop at a stop sign and was almost hit by a truck.

A Jonesboro police officer saw Hampton and stopped him.

While running his name through dispatch, the officer learned that Hampton was a parolee and had a warrant.

According to the Jonesboro Police Department incident report, the officer found a brown tobacco pouch with 2 pieces of brillo-pad material in it and a metal tube with burn marks on one end and tape around the other end while searching Hampton.

The officer explained in the report that “this kind of tube is commonly used to smoke crack-cocaine.”

Hampton was taken to the Craighead County Detention Center where he was charged with felonies for possession of drug paraphernalia and parole violation.

He was held with no bond awaiting a probable cause hearing.
