Body found Sunday night identified by police

CARUTHERSVILLE, MO (KAIT) - The Pemiscot County Sheriff's Office has released the name of a person found dead in flood waters southeast of Caruthersville.

According to Sheriff Tommy Greenwell, Diane McDaniel, 59, of Caruthersville was found in water off County Road 553 near Caruthersville. An autopsy revealed she died from drowning.

Greenwell said officers received a call Sunday night at 7 about a van stuck in a bean field.

Upon further investigation, Greenwell found McDaniel's body had been in the water for several days.
