Region 8 mom asks community to help bring son's killer to justice

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A Region 8 mom is making a desperate plea for information that could bring her son's killer to justice.

Kyle Gipson's family is asking for help.

Gipson was found dead on Curtview Street in Jonesboro on May 23.

"It's been extremely hard. I don't know how to explain it," Gipson's mother, Misty Baker, said about losing her son.

There have been no arrests in his murder investigation.

Now Baker is making a plea to the public for any information related to her son's unsolved case.

“We need someone to come forward and someone knows something and if they just find it in their heart,” Baker said.  “I mean, it's the right thing. We need help.

Baker described her son as a good person, despite making some bad decisions in his life.

"He had problems," she said. "He was an addict and he wanted help. He attended meetings some. He wanted help, but he just didn't get it."

Baker said Gipson had plans to leave Jonesboro the week after the shooting happened.

"Get away from the people and try to straighten up," Baker said about her son's plans. "His goal was to be 30 and have a new life."

Gipson was 29 when he died.

There is a $1,000 reward for a tip that will lead police to Gipson's killer.

Baker said she has been in contact with police, who are still investigating the case.

When asked what advice she would give to families who are struggling to help an addict, Baker said to use tough love.

"First of all, pray," she said. "Don't be an enabler. Get them help."
