JACKSONPORT, AR (KAIT) -

A woman escaped a large, early morning fire with minor injuries.

It happened at around 2 a.m. Tuesday at a mobile home on Redman Street in Jacksonport.

The Jacksonport Volunteer Fire Department and Diaz Fire Department worked together to battle the blaze.

Jerry Bowen, assistant fire chief of the Jacksonport Volunteer Fire Department, said when crews arrived the mobile home was engulfed.

Bowen said the homeowner woke up in the middle of the night and realized she couldn’t get out, so she broke out a bedroom window to escape.

It appeared the fire started in the kitchen, but the cause of it is still under investigation, Bowen said.
