PARAGOULD, AR (KAIT) - Region 8 stepped up once again to help those in need.
On July 22, Mission Outreach in Paragould asked the community for help collecting school supplies for the 15 kids staying at the shelter.
Jeremy Biggs, executive director of the mission, said of the 15, 12 of the kids are school-aged and had nothing for the first day of school.
In just a week, Biggs said they received more than enough supplies along with monetary donations.
He said they have 2 tables full of backpacks, crayons, pencils, notebooks and paper.
Biggs said they can't thank everyone enough for the support
"Everybody wants to help out a child," Biggs said. "That is for sure, and we are blessed to have those donors and the community support that we do. Like I said, we just want to make sure that every child has that self-confidence that they should have on that first day of school."
Biggs plans to use the monetary donations to buy hand sanitizer and other items on the supply lists this weekend during the tax-free weekend.
Any school supplies the mission has left over will be donated to other organizations in need.
