Arkansas teachers come together for digital summit

Region 8 teachers got their google on today while surfing the net.

Trumann High School hosted its first Digital Ed Alliance Mid South Summit on Thursday.
The summit featured Google Apps for Education.
Nearly 180 teachers from all over Arkansas learned about Google and its uses.
Mid South Principal Michael Graham is a co-founder of the Digital Ed Alliance.
He says the purpose of the event is to help teachers prepare students for the future.

The teachers have access to a suite of free technology tools that Google offers,” Graham said.  “This training is to get those teachers skills to use that in the classroom to increase using technology with their students, so they'll be ready for that in the future.”

Graham says theyve partnered with the Silicon Valley, California School District to make the event possible.

TRUMANN, AR (KAIT) - Kate Williams teaches in the East Poinsett County School District. She's working to go paperless in her classroom.

"Learning how to grade easier, not having to take a lot of stuff home with me," Williams said. "Learning how to get my kids hooked into the technology."

The group hopes to host more summits in the future.
