JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - An author is using her writing to speak out about her experience in the foster care system.
Ashley Rhodes-Courter wrote the novel "Three Little Words."
The book is based on her own experiences as a child who lived in the foster care system for almost ten years.
She spoke to the community in a question and answer session at A-State Wednesday.
"My story can serve as a personal example of who these kids are and what this population is all about, but most importantly how the community members can give back and try to help kids like me," Rhodes said.
A-State students, faculty and staff as well as community members and Court Appointed Special Advocate representatives were all at the session to hear Rhodes speak.
