JONESBORO, AR (ASU) – A five-game home slate along with road contests at Oregon, Baylor and Missouri headline the 2015-16 Arkansas State University men's basketball non-conference schedule as released Thursday (July 30).
"We are excited about our non-league schedule and the challenges it will bring to our team to help prepare us for the Sun Belt Conference games that ultimately will determine our success," said A-State head coach John Brady.
Arkansas State will tipoff its 2015-16 season at SIU-Edwardsville on Friday, Nov. 13. After hosting Lyon College on Monday, Nov. 16, the Red Wolves play four of their next five games on the road. A-State travels to Savannah State (Wed., Nov. 18), Oregon (Wed., Nov. 25), Baylor (Fri., Nov. 27) and Missouri (Tue., Dec. 1) during that stretch with a home contest against Jackson State slated for Sunday, November 22.
The Red Wolves close the non-conference slate with three of the last four games at the Convocation Center. A-State hosts North Dakota State, one of three 2015 NCAA Tournament participants on the schedule, on Friday, Dec. 4 and Arkansas-Monticello on Saturday, Dec. 12. The Red Wolves' final road non-conference game will be played at UT Martin on Friday, Dec. 18. The final tune-up before Sun Belt Conference play pits the Red Wolves against Central Arkansas on Tuesday, Dec. 22 at the Convocation Center.
A-State will host Henderson State (Mon., Nov. 9) in its lone exhibition contest. Ticket information and start times for A-State's 2015-16 contests will be announced in the near future.
A-State has compiled a 95-54 (.638 winning percentage) all-time ledger against the 2015-16 non-conference opponents. The Red Wolves will face SIU-Edwardsville, Oregon and North Dakota State for the first time.
"Our team learned a great deal about itself last season, and opposed to having 12 new players, we now have a team of 12 experienced guys," Brady added. "This team realizes what it needs to accomplish this year and is working extremely hard to reach that goal. I have been impressed with our approach and attitude in developing the intangibles necessary for a quality team to have. I feel confident in this team and the improvement that is going to take place."
