Early Childhood Conference teaches educators new skills

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Educators were educated on Monday at the 45th annual Early Childhood Conference at Arkansas State University.

About 350 early childhood professionals learned valuable tools that will help them in the classroom.

"Professional development is very important for teachers so that they are reminded of things they already know and can enhance their skills so they learn new research that is out there that will support them in the work they do with children," Diana Courson, Associate Director of Childhood Service, said.

Teachers attended not only the larger conference meeting, but smaller breakout sessions focusing on particular issues.

Early childhood educator Elroy Brown said he found the information in the conference very helpful.

"It's very insightful and there's always room for improvement," Brown said. "There's also statistics and information that's always being presented that helps us better equip ourselves at what we do and what we love."

The conference will take place through noon on Wednesday.
