A-State Martin's wears helmet to promote ticket sales

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - When you walk through the Arkansas State Athletics Department offices it might be no big deal to pass Howl or Scarlet, but recently you might pass a man wearing a suit and tie with a helmet to top off the ensemble.

A-State Associate AD of External Relations Jason Martin is wearing a Red Wolves football helmet to help promote ticket sales. "With our new First and 10K campaign, it's really our goal for the first time in A-State football history to get over 10,000 season tickets," said Martin, "In order to try to penetrate the market a little better, I was trying to come up with some creative ways to spread the word."

Martin certainly exceeded in his attempt at being creative, but this isn't all for show. He's sticking to his challenge and wearing the helmet nearly everywhere he goes, including at home. "Well, I did get my wife's permission to do so first, but yeah, I'm pretty much going to wear it as much as I can," he said, "Obviously, I'm not going to be sleeping in it, some of the basic hygiene, showering, driving, outside of that I'll be wearing it everywhere."

The helmet challenge will go on until the team reaches the goal of selling 10,000 season tickets or the end of August, whichever comes first. In the meantime, Martin said that there are plenty of incentives to buy season tickets. "We have some prizes that we're giving away. Everything from running out with the team, participating in coin tosses, getting a tour of the facilities, Demario Davis is going to sign a Jets jersey for us to give away," Martin added.

Arkansas State's season tickets are currently on sale along with mini-packages. To see the options, you can visit astateredwolves.com. Single game tickets go on sale August 17th.

The Red Wolves open up their home slate on September 12th against SEC opponent Missouri.
