Jonesboro company's mission: Buy a t-shirt, help a child

WALNUT RIDGE, AR (KAIT) -

A Jonesboro-based company is making sure a Walnut Ridge children's shelter has a happy August.

Happy Life clothing company is donating part of this month's sales to The Children's Shelter, an emergency shelter based in Walnut Ridge that houses northeast Arkansas foster children.

Every month, Happy Life donates part of its proceeds to a local charity that helps kids.

13% of every t-shirt order in August will go to The Children's Shelter.

Administrator Tonjia Miles said if you buy a t-shirt, she will be able to buy food and clothing for the kids and pay the shelter's bills.

"We greatly rely on our fundraising activities," Miles said. "That's what keeps us going and for us to be able to serve these foster children. They stay with us up to 90 days while suitable homes are located for them."

Anyone interested in making a purchase to benefit The Children's Shelter can shop on Happy Life's website

The site even has a custom children's shelter shirt

"You can get your back-to-school wear and help us at the children's shelter," Miles said.

The Children's Shelter has several other upcoming fundraising events.

Miles invites the community to their annual gala Aug. 6 at The Studio in downtown Walnut Ridge and "A Night of Stars under the Stars" Sept. 14 at the Silos in Bono.
