MISSISSIPPI COUNTY, AR (KAIT) -

Authorities in Mississippi County have not released the name of the person found in the Mississippi River.

According to Sheriff Dale Cook, the body was found on Thursday near the Sans Souci Landing.

Sheriff Cook told Region 8 News the body did have identification on it and the family has been notified.

However, Sheriff Cook did not release the person’s name.

He said the body has been sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab in Little Rock for an autopsy.

Sheriff Cook told Region 8 News the remains could be connected to a barge accident in April 2014.

The search for 2 bodies began after a barge overturned near the Kinder Morgan facility in Mississippi County. Police found 1 body, but were not able to find the other one.
