CRAIGHEAD COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - After filing chapter 11 bankruptcy, the Craighead County Fair Association liquidated their remaining properties to pay back debt, including the new fairgrounds.
That left many questioning the fate of the Northeast Arkansas District Fair.
But the show must go on and the NEA District Fair will return Sept. 21.
The gates will open and the fairgrounds will be filled with the smell of funnel cakes and squeals of delight from the kids.
District Fair General Manager Mitch Johnson said the staff is already making preparations for this year.
"There will be a new ride, at least one new ride in this year," Johnson said. "Of course, Archway Amusement once again contracted out with several other folks to bring some of the best rides in this area and they'll be more spectacular than ever."
The fair lasts until Sept. 26.
