Verizon prepares for more phone usage during World Series

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - The 2015 Cal Ripken 10-year-old World Series is underway in Jonesboro, and that means more cell phone usage at Joe Mack Campbell Park.

One service carrier has prepared for the influx in usage.

Verizon set up a cellular repeater on wheels to prepare for the 2,000 people expected to attended the baseball games.

“Verizon has Jonesboro completely covered with our network and baseball fans will undoubtedly keep it busy throughout the World Series,” Leo Perreault, executive director of network for the South Central Region of Verizon Wireless, said.  “We’re making sure that no matter how busy that wireless traffic gets, our customers will still have a great experience when they call, surf, or whatever they need to do during their time at the park.”
Perreault said the portable network equipment is part of Verizon’s disaster response fleet that is also used after a natural disaster.
