JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Center for Exceptional Families received a grant that could help the center grow.
The grant was announced on July 24 and awarded by the Department of Education.
The center director, Shelby Knight, said her office has been working hard since the announcement to make sure the money goes to good use.
Centers for Exceptional Families is an advocacy center for families with disabled children.
The center explains rights to the families and helps advocate for the children in schools.
The grant money will help the center grow to help more families.
"We will use this grant to move out our localized advocacy services and go statewide," Knight said.
The expansion will even allow some advocates to go out in the field around Arkansas so families do not always have to come into the center's office.
The grant will officially be awarded on October 1 and Knight said the center will be ready to start work the work towards expansion that day.
