JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Region 8 residents came out to enjoy good music this weekend for a worthy cause.
Many people attended the "Hearts for Hospice" Benefit Concert at The Epic Center in Jonesboro Saturday night.
Jason D. Williams was the headliner for the concert benefiting the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro.
Francy Workman worked with owner Sheila Layne to organize the event.
Layne said Workman lost her husband last year.
He passed away in the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House.
Workman is in hospice herself and wanted to have the concert in her husband's honor.
"Her husband loved music, actually his last performance was in here last year, and he loved Jason D. Williams," Layne said. "And she just wanted to do some kind of a fundraiser to pay it forward to the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House."
Workman was brought to the concert on a stretcher and enjoyed the show from the front row.
Three dollars from every general ticket and four dollars from each reserved ticket was donated to the hospice house.
Layne said she was pleased with the turnout and hopes to have more fundraising events in the future.
The Epic Center is located at 1899 CR 333 in Jonesboro.
Layne said the facility can be used for weddings, concerts, meetings, family gatherings, birthday parties and much more.
