MARION COUNTY, AR (KAIT) -

An Arkansas sheriff's office discovered several marijuana plants during "eradication operations."

Marion County Sheriff Joan Vickers said in a news release Monday that one such operation was conducted on Aug. 7.

In that operation spotters in helicopters found "several plots" of marijuana in northern Marion County, Vickers said. The plots were at two different residences that are close to each other.

Those residences were secured and search warrants were obtained for both.

Vickers said during the search about 1,746 marijuana plants were found along with "numerous firearms" and "several pounds" of processed marijuana.

The sheriff anticipates affidavits for arrest warrants to be filed in the next few days.

The 14th Judicial Drug Task Force, Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, Flippin Police Department, Arkansas State Police and Arkansas National Guard aided in the operation.
