Leadership Jonesboro class to host microchipping clinic

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

Leadership Jonesboro will be helping keep pets safe on Aug. 22 with the Northeast Arkansas Humane Society.

They are hosting a low-cost microchip clinic that Saturday at NEAHS from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

For $25 pet owners can bring their dogs to the NEAHS headquarters, 6111 East Highland Dr., and get them microchipped.

“Pets that are microchipped have a much better chance of finding their way home,” NEAHS Executive Director Margaret Shepherd said. “With the microchips we use, the pet owner is alerted by text, email and automated voice messaging. You may feel like your pet will never leave your property, but accidents happen every day. Microchipping will help reunite pets to their families quickly.”

Proceeds from the event will go toward the NEAHS facility expansion, which currently houses dogs and cats waiting for adoption.
