Bono Police Department updates evidence room

Bono Police Department updates evidence room

BONO, AR (KAIT) - A Region 8 police department is thankful for a building update.

Bono Police Chief Michael Parrish said when he took the job in February, they had a lot of work to do.

One of the main projects was getting the evidence room in good, working order.

Behind a closed and locked door inside the Bono City Hall is the new evidence room.

Parrish explained no one is allowed in it to entrust the integrity of the department and evidence.

"You know, you need to be able to make sure it's not going to get back out on the streets," Parrish said. "Somebody is not going to be able to just come in and get it. It needs to be in a very good secure area."

Parrish said there are 2 sets of locked doors, and only 2 people in the department have keys.

Parrish said they also have a new, computerized system for all the evidence.

While it may seem like a minor update, Parrish said it's key to their success as a department and keeping Bono safe.
