Jonesboro wins American League pool, advances in Cal Ripken World Series

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - The Jonesboro 10-year old baseball team rattled the bats to a big victory over the New England Regional champs from Brookfield, Connecticut on Wednesday at Joe Mack Campbell Park.

Jonesboro run ruled Brookfield and ended the game after four innings with an 11-0 win after putting up ten runs in the second inning and cruising to victory behind a solid pitching performance from Hutson Guinn.

With the victory, Jonesboro won the American League Division of the World Series and earns a first round bye in the single elimination bracket portion of the tournament.

Their next game will be on Friday night at 6:00 pm. Jonesboro will play the winner of Upper Montgomery, MD vs. Janesville, WI, that game will be played on Thursday night at 6:00 pm.

Jonesboro now only needs two wins to take the 10-year old Cal Ripken World Series Championship.
