ASU to Host Mobile Vietnam Veterans Memorial

FEBRUARY 21, 2005 - Posted at 2:07 p.m. CST

JONESBORO, AR - Jonesboro and Arkansas State University will soon be the temporary home of the mobile Vietnam Veterans Memorial.

The half-scale replica of the actual memorial wall in Washington, D.C. will be on display for a four-day run at ASU beginning March 17.  The exhibit will be set-up in the tailgate area just west of Indian Stadium.

"When you look at a wall that has 58,256 names on it who made the ultimate sacrifice in Vietnam...we want the high school kids, the middle school kids to come and see it and know what its all about," said event co-coordinator Thomas Davis.

The Arkansas Army National Guard's 875th Engineers Battalion will provide security for the wall.  Opening ceremonies are set for 10 a.m. on March 17, while closing ceremonies will take place at 5 p.m. on March 20.
