Officer bit by dog during fugitive arrest

BLYTHEVILLE, AR (KAIT) - A Blytheville police officer was bit by a dog during the apprehension of a fugitive.

Captain Scott Adams, Criminal Investigation Division Commander with the Blytheville Police Department, says the police department assisted U.S. Marshall Bob Clark in the arrest of Brandon Hall, 39.

Hall was a fugitive wanted on several warrants on sex-related charges involving a minor.

Adams says it was discovered that Hall was staying with a friend at 913 Dixie St., one block from the Blytheville High School.

When an officer attempted to enter the residence Adams says a pit bull dog "attacked and bit an officer." The officer was bitten on the hand and received medical attention.

Adams also says officers shot at the dog in an attempt to protect themselves. The dog was not killed.

Hall was arrested and the dog was seized in order to investigate the animal's health history.
