BATESVILLE, AR (KAIT) - The Batesville Community Center and Aquatics Facility is 210 days behind on construction.
The center was supposed to be completed Aug. of 2015, but now an official with the Batesville Parks and Recreation says it may be late spring or early summer of 2016 before the center can open.
Parks and Recreation Director Jeff Owens says Mother Nature is to blame.
Owens says Batesville has received a lot of rain and bad weather this year making the ground too wet for crews to work.
The project's ground breaking was held in March of 2014 and residents in Batesville have been eager for the opening.
Taxpayers approved a one cent sales tax increase in 2012 for the community center.
"We are all frustrated but we can't control mother nature," Owens said.
