NEWPORT, AR (KAIT) -

The state crime lab has positively identified the body of a man found in Grubbs in early August.

According to Lt. Ricky Morales, police confirmed that they found the body of Jesus A. Martinez-Munoz, also known as Jessie Martinez, at the intersection of Guffey Street and Jackson County Road 1205 in Grubbs.

Martinez had been a seasonal worker for Riceland for 10 years and had been working in rice fields earlier this month.

According to police, Martinez began passing out and his coworkers believed he was suffering from heat exhaustion.

Morales said the sheriff’s office searched nearby abandoned houses, surrounding fields and shops in the area until Martinez’s body was found.

Morales said the autopsy will reveal the manner of Martinez’s death at a later date.
