FAYETTEVILLE, AR (KAIT) - Arkansas Razorbacks Head Coach Bret Bielema announced Monday that injured runningback Jonathan Williams will miss the 2015 regular season after needing surgery on his left foot.
Williams was injured near the end of Saturday's inter-squad scrimmage and it was released on Sunday that he would be out a significant amount of time because his foot injury would require surgery.
"J-Will won't be with us for the regular season," said Bielema on Monday, "We are doing everything we can to support him."
The Razorbacks didn't rule out the possibility of Williams returning for a bowl game. Williams is expected to make a full recovery and Bielema credits the runners work ethic for a possible return. "He met with Coach Herbert at 6:00 am this morning," said Bielema, "That shows the kind of kid he is."
Arkansas will now rely on Alex Collins to support the running game. The Hogs coaching staff has stated they feel Collins is in as good of shape as ever. "He's quicker, he's stronger, he's faster than I've ever seen him," said Bielema after Saturday's scrimmage.
Williams accounted for over 1,200 rushing yards for the Razorbacks in 2014.
