Jonesboro man arrested for trying to pawn stolen mower

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A Jonesboro man is in jail after he tried to pawn a stolen lawn mower for the second time.

Daniel L. Hines, 44, tried to pawn a John Deere zero turn riding lawn mower to Express Pawn, 3205 East Nettleton Avenue, Friday.

Hines was asking $500 for the mower.

When an employee looked up Hines' account in their store's system, he noticed that the account was locked because Hines had pawned a stolen mower to them before.

The employee called the manager, who confirmed that Hines was the same person who had pawned the stolen mower before.

When the manager called police, Hines ran away.

He was found a short distance away by police.

It was later determined that the mower was stolen from The United Postal Office on Race Street.

Hines is charged with a felony for theft by receiving greater than $5,000 but less than $25,000.

He is being held at the Craighead County Detention Center on a $20,000 bond.

He is expected back in court on Sept. 30.
