NEA Humane Society needs help caring for injured dog

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - The Northeast Arkansas Humane Society needs your help caring for a dog that was severely injured when he was hit by a car Monday.

According to a post on their Facebook page, Executive Director Margaret Shepherd got a call from the Craighead County Sheriff's Department about a dog that had been hit just outside of Jonesboro.

The large German Shepherd has a dislocated elbow and lung damage. Blood work showed he may also have some damage to this liver.

The dog, which they are calling Rex, needed more medical care than what could be given at the shelter.

Shepherd wrote that they take in sick and injured pets frequently, but Rex's injuries are beyond their financial scope.

They are asking the community for financial assistance in caring for him.

The local veterinarian used by the humane society will offer them a discount, but his hospitalization and further surgeries will be very expensive.

To donate, you can visit their website at www.neahs.org. Please specify that the donation is for Rex.

You can also mail donations to the shelter at 6111 East Highland Drive.
