Craighead County dog park plans underway

CRAIGHEAD COUNTY, AR (KAIT) -

Plans are being drawn up for a dog park in Craighead County after a lot of  interest from the public.

Right now the project is in the planning stages.

Parks and Recreation Director Wixson Huffstetler said the first step is designing the park.

Jim Little has volunteered to design the park.

Huffstetler and Little have met on site to discuss the look and now Little is putting it to paper.

Once the plans are drawn, they will be presented to the public for comments.

Right now the plan is to use about three acres of the park and divide it into three sections based on dog size.

After the plans are drawn and approved, the next step will be deciding how to pay for the project.

Huffstetler said these two parts take the longest.

"This part of figuring out the design of it and the cost is the slow part but once we get that done it should go pretty fast," Huffstetler said.

He asks that people send any ideas or fund raising plans to him.

The project will be an expensive one so Huffstetler said any help raising money will be appreciated,
