High beams, 270 grams of pot lead to suspected dealer's arrest

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Jonesboro police arrested a suspected drug dealer after he failed to dim his headlights to oncoming traffic.

Cordarias Jones, 25, is charged with two counts of felony possession of a controlled substance with the purpose to deliver and two misdemeanor charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to dim headlights.

According to the initial incident report, Officer Erik Johnson stopped Jones at 8:40 p.m. Wednesday after seeing him following too close to another car and failing to dim his headlights.

During a search of Jones' person and car, the officer reported finding a "large compressed brick" of more than 270 grams of suspected marijuana valued at $600. The officer said he also found several other prescription drugs, including Xanax, Clonazepam and Promethazine.

Johnson arrested Jones and took him to the Craighead County Detention Center where officers found $794 in cash in his pockets. The money was seized as evidence.

At last report, Jones was being held at the CCDC without bond pending a probable cause hearing.
