Four Lyon baseball players named to elite team

BATESVILLE, AR (LYON) – Four Lyon baseball players have been named to the 2015 All-Arkansas Collegiate Team, as announced by Natural State Baseball.

Former Scots pitcher Griffin Glaude and sophomore pitcher Tyler Tognarine were named to the All-Arkansas Team, while Colt Harmon and Kraig Kelley received honorable mention. Glaude was also named the Arkansas Pitcher of the Year and winner of the Natural award, while Tognarine took home Freshman of the Year honors. The players were honored for their performances during the 2015 season.

Glaude was recognized for his play at second base and on the mound. During the 2015 season, he batted .404 with 13 doubles, 46 runs batted in and seven stolen bases. He also posted an 8-1 record with a 0.56 earned run average, five shutouts and 116 strikeouts as a pitcher.

After the 2015 season, Glaude signed a free-agent contract with the Toronto Blue Jays, and is currently pitching in the Major League Baseball's Rookie League.

Tognarine went an astounding 9-0 with a 3.17 earned run average and four saves on the hill for Lyon in 2015 and Kelley batted .218 with 16 runs batted in, while finishing third on the team with 72 fielding assists. Harmon posted a .347 batting average and 29 runs batted in.

Andrew Benintendi of the University of Arkansas won Player of the Year honors and Cody Hooten of Henderson State was named the Coach of the Year.

Henderson State University and the University of Arkansas were each named the teams of the year. The Reddies advanced to the NCAA Division 2 College World Series, while the Razorbacks reached the College World Series at the NCAA Division I level.
