Bono police to use reserve officers

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Reserve police officers are now being utilized at the Bono Police Department.

Reserve officers volunteer their time to serve their community.

A training class is required along with 100 hours of ride time with a law enforcement official.

Bono Police Chief Michael Parrish said the reserve officers in Bono are invaluable.

"They give their time to the community because they love the community they live in and their surrounding community," Parrish said. "I think we need a lot of people like reserves, you know, that would put their life on the line for the community they live in."

Chief Parrish said the state allows 2 reserve officers for every one law enforcement official.

They are currently up to full staff and hold monthly meetings with the reserve officers to make sure their training stays sharp.
